About PaxfulPaxful Has Shut Down Operations. Paxful was a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency marketplace founded in 2015. The platform previously connected buyers and sellers of digital assets through offers with user-selected payment methods and an escrow process. Paxful states that it served more than 14 million users across 140+ countries before its shutdown.
Paxful has discontinued all active marketplace services, including buying, selling, trading, deposits, sending and receiving. Existing account holders can access a limited withdrawal-only service to transfer remaining digital assets from their Paxful Account to an external crypto wallet. Identity verification and compliance screening are required before a withdrawal can be processed.
Paxful states that ongoing monthly maintenance fees may apply to accounts with balances until funds are withdrawn; the fee is waived for regulatory-restricted accounts. Users should withdraw eligible remaining balances promptly. Paxful does not permit any service access or withdrawals in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, or the Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine.
The shutdown follows the company’s stated concerns about historic misconduct by former co-founders before 2023 and the costs of compliance remediation. Paxful states that its wind-down is conducted under a risk-based AML and sanctions-compliance approach. Limited support remains available only for unresolved withdrawal matters.
