What is KCS?
About KuCoin Token
KCS is the native utility token of KuCoin, a global cryptocurrency exchange launched in 2017. KCS holders receive KCS Bonus payouts funded by a share of KuCoin's trading fees (for holders of at least 6 KCS), trading fee discounts based on their holdings, early access to token launches through KuCoin Spotlight, voting rights on new project listings through GemVote, and participation in BurningDrop staking events for newly launched tokens. KCS was originally issued as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and is also the native gas token of KCC (KuCoin Community Chain), an EVM-compatible blockchain built for the KuCoin community. KuCoin's operator pleaded guilty to unlicensed money transmission charges in the United States in January 2025 and agreed to pay monetary penalties of more than $297 million, according to the US Department of Justice, and a CFTC order in March 2026 barred KuCoin from the United States, according to CoinDesk.
KCS tokenomics
KCS uses a burn model. The whitepaper sets an initial supply of 200 million KCS and a target of 100 million, and KuCoin reduces supply through regular buyback-and-burn events funded by exchange profits.
Initial supply — 200,000,000 KCS under the KCS whitepaper (no additional minting beyond it)
Target supply — 100,000,000 KCS; burns continue until this target is reached
Circulating supply — approximately 139.7 million KCS as of October 2026, according to CoinGecko
Burn mechanism — KuCoin applies a portion of its monthly profits to buy back and burn KCS, calculated from the exchange's overall monthly revenue; each burn is announced by KuCoin (for example, the 66th monthly burn removed 20,240 KCS)
KCS Bonus — a daily distribution of a share of KuCoin's trading fees to holders of at least 6 KCS; the amount depends on the holder's balance and on the exchange's trading volume
Chains — ERC-20 on Ethereum; native gas token on KCC (KuCoin Community Chain)
What determines KCS's value
KCS's value is driven by KuCoin's exchange performance (trading volume, user growth, fee revenue), the regulatory position of the exchange, and the ongoing burns. Part of KuCoin's monthly profit is converted into KCS demand through buybacks, and the burned tokens permanently reduce supply. As supply moves from 200 million toward the 100 million target, each remaining KCS represents a larger share of the exchange's revenue distribution and governance power.
The KCS Bonus creates a holding incentive that depends on KuCoin's trading volume: unlike exchange tokens that only offer fee discounts, KCS pays a share of trading fees to holders. KCC adds on-chain utility, since KCS pays for gas on the network. Regulatory actions against KuCoin, including the January 2025 US guilty plea and the March 2026 CFTC order, are a direct risk for the token.

Ethereum (ERC-20) and KCC, where it is the native gas token. Use the network the swap offer states.
KCS depends on a single exchange: its trading volume, regulation, and security. A fall in KuCoin's volume would reduce both the bonus and the funds available for burns.
