What is ASTER?
About Aster
ASTER is the native token of Aster DEX, a multichain decentralized perpetual exchange formed from the merger of Astherus and APX Finance in December 2024. Aster combines yield-generating collateral products with perpetual futures, spot order book trading, stock perpetuals (Apple, Tesla, and other US equities), and commodity markets (gold, silver, and crude oil settled in USD1) on a single non-custodial platform. The exchange operates across BNB Chain, Ethereum, Solana, and Arbitrum without requiring users to bridge between chains, and its own privacy-focused Layer 1, Aster Chain, began launching in phases in March 2026. Aster advertises leverage of up to 1001x in Simple Mode (1001x Mode), with MEV protection, which according to reviews applies to BTC and ETH only, alongside Pro Mode, which offers a centralized-exchange-style limit order book for experienced traders. The ASTER token was generated on September 17, 2025. Aster received an investment from YZi Labs, the rebranded venture arm of Binance Labs, in November 2024, and in November 2025 Changpeng Zhao (CZ) disclosed that he had bought about 2 million ASTER tokens.
ASTER tokenomics
ASTER has a maximum supply of 8 billion tokens, with about 2.71 billion in circulation as of October 2026, according to CoinGecko. On June 17, 2026 Aster launched a tokenomics update that links buybacks and burns directly to platform fees.
Maximum supply — 8,000,000,000 ASTER (8 billion)
Allocation — 53.5% airdrop (about 4.28 billion tokens) and 30% ecosystem and community (about 2.4 billion tokens), with the remainder to treasury and team
Buyback and burn — since June 17, 2026, 99% of daily platform fees are used to buy back ASTER, and an equal amount is burned from reserves
Market capitalization — approximately $1.9 billion as of October 2026, according to CoinGecko
Yield-bearing collateral — traders can use asBNB (liquid-staked BNB derivative) and USDF (yield-focused stablecoin) as margin, earning passive income while holding perpetual positions
Aster Chain — a privacy-focused Layer 1 for derivatives that uses zero-knowledge proofs; its mainnet began launching in phases in March 2026
What determines ASTER's value
ASTER's value is tied to trading volume on the platform through the buyback-and-burn mechanism launched on June 17, 2026. Each day, 99% of protocol fees are used to buy ASTER on the open market, and an equal amount is burned from reserves, so the buyback grows with the fees that derivatives trading generates.
Aster also offers crypto-settled stock perpetuals (up to 50x leverage) and, since April 2026, gold, silver, and oil perpetuals settled exclusively in USD1, World Liberty Financial's stablecoin, which creates token flow between the two ecosystems. Aster competes with Hyperliquid and other perpetual DEXs, differentiating on multichain support, yield-bearing collateral, and its own Layer 1. In October 2025 DefiLlama removed Aster's perpetual volume data after raising wash-trading concerns, according to The Block, so reported volume figures should be read with caution.

Frequently Asked Questions About Aster (ASTER)
Aster is a multichain decentralized perpetual exchange formed from the merger of Astherus and APX Finance in December 2024. It combines perpetual futures, spot order book trading, stock perpetuals, and commodity markets on one non-custodial platform.
Aster operates across BNB Chain, Ethereum, Solana, and Arbitrum, and users do not need to bridge between chains. The ASTER token itself is a BNB Chain (BEP-20) token.
On June 17, 2026 Aster launched an automated buyback and burn: 99% of daily protocol fees buy back ASTER, and an equal amount is burned from reserves.
The buyback is funded by protocol fees, and fees come from derivatives trading. Higher daily volume means a larger daily buyback and burn; lower volume slows it.
53.5% went to a community airdrop and 30% to ecosystem and community, with the remainder to treasury and team. Token generation happened on September 17, 2025.
They are crypto-settled perpetual contracts on US equities such as Apple and Tesla, offered with up to 50x leverage. They give on-chain traders equity exposure without a brokerage account.
Markets for gold, silver, and crude oil settle exclusively in USD1, World Liberty Financial's stablecoin. That creates token flow between the Aster and World Liberty ecosystems.
Simple Mode (1001x Mode) offers up to 1001x leverage with MEV protection, but reviews say it is limited to BTC and ETH; other assets have lower limits. Pro Mode is a centralized-exchange-style limit order book for experienced traders, with lower leverage limits that depend on the asset. At 1001x the liquidation price is about 0.1% from the entry price, so normal market noise can close a position within seconds. Reviews also report a fixed fee of 0.08% on opening and 0.08% on closing in this mode, which equals about 160% of the initial margin at 1001x leverage, and a cap on profit of roughly 300% to 500% depending on the asset.
YZi Labs, the rebranded venture arm of Binance Labs, invested in Aster's predecessor Astherus in November 2024. In November 2025 Changpeng Zhao (CZ) disclosed buying about 2 million ASTER, and the price jumped by more than 30% that day, according to Yahoo Finance. A one-off purchase like this is not a lasting demand source.
Traders can post asBNB (a liquid-staked BNB derivative) and USDF (a yield-focused stablecoin) as margin and earn passive income while holding perpetual positions. Collateral products add smart contract and peg risk.
