ETH to XMR Exchange

Ethereum records every transaction — sender address, receiver address, and amount — permanently on a public ledger readable by any blockchain explorer or analytics firm. Every DeFi interaction and wallet balance is permanently attributable to your address.

An ETH to XMR conversion addresses this directly. Monero enforces privacy at the protocol level using ring signatures, stealth addresses, and RingCT, which hide the sender, recipient, and amount on every transaction by default — no opt-in setting required.

Users who convert ETH to XMR typically do so to exit a traceable on-chain footprint built through DeFi activity, to hold value in a fully fungible asset that cannot be flagged based on transaction history, or to transact privately without centralised exchange KYC at the point of Monero withdrawal.

Most exchange partners begin processing an ETH to XMR swap after 12–64 ETH network confirmations depending on the partner's risk policy. Ethereum produces a block every 12 seconds, so 12 confirmations take roughly 2–3 minutes; partners requiring 64 confirmations for finality add approximately 13 minutes before conversion begins.
During elevated Ethereum network congestion, gas fee competition can delay initial block inclusion and extend the pre-processing window.
On the XMR side, incoming Monero requires 10 confirmations before funds become spendable. Monero targets a 2-minute block time, adding roughly 20 minutes after the partner broadcasts the XMR transaction.

XMR does not require a MEMO, payment tag, or destination tag when receiving to a self-custodied Monero wallet. If you are sending XMR to a centralised exchange deposit address, check whether a payment ID is required — omitting it may result in funds not being credited without a manual recovery process.

• Sending ETH from a smart contract address — Some partners cannot process smart contract deposits. Send from a standard self-custodied wallet.

•Using a centralised exchange as your XMR destination — If the exchange requires a payment ID and you omit it, XMR may not be credited. Use a self-custodied wallet address as your destination.

•Reusing the same XMR address — Generate a fresh Monero subaddress for each swap to prevent linkability between receipts.

•Setting ETH gas too low — Low priority fees during congestion can stall inclusion for minutes or hours. Check current gas on Etherscan before sending.
